Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 September 2026
1. Who we are, and what these terms are
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Parlevi ("we"), based in the Province of Ontario, Canada; contact details are in section 14. By using Parlevi you accept them. How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy. If a translation of these terms is ever provided, the English version prevails.
2. The service
Parlevi is a vocabulary trainer. We may introduce charges for any part of the service.
3. Your account
- Parlevi is not aimed at children and does not seek to collect personal information from children under 13. To create an account or give us any personal information you must be at least 13 years old — or older, where your local law sets a higher age.
- Keep access to your account to yourself; what happens under it is your responsibility.
- Using the app without registering creates a temporary profile; temporary profiles may be removed at any time. We make no promise to retain any profile or its progress, registered or not.
- One account per person; do not impersonate anyone.
4. Fair use
The service is for personal language learning. You agree not to: bulk-download, scrape or republish the dictionary or its audio; use the service or its content to build a dictionary, dataset or audio collection; share your account, or sell or transfer access to the service; attack, probe or disrupt the service; create accounts by automation; or send us unlawful or abusive content.
5. The content you learn from
Dictionary entries, example sentences, pronunciations and audio are provided for learning purposes and may contain errors. They are not professional translation, legal, medical or any other advice, and we do not warrant their accuracy or completeness. We make no promise about making any changes — they are entirely at our discretion.
Level indications (A1–C2+) follow the Council of Europe's CEFR descriptors and are produced by automated linguistic assessment calibrated against published CEFR vocabulary lists.
6. What you type, and what the service produces
By entering any material into Parlevi you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, adapt and use it to run and improve the service. The licence survives the deletion of your account. Ideas and feedback you send may be used without obligation to you.
Everything the service produces for you — your progress and any material prepared for you — is part of the service and, as between you and us, belongs to us. You may use it in the app for your own learning; nothing in these terms entitles you to receive it in any other form.
7. Our rights
The application, its design, its brand, its software and its curated dictionary database are protected by law. These terms grant you personal use of the service and nothing more.
8. Availability and changes
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend or discontinue it, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.
9. Liability
You use the service at your own risk. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law forbids it — in particular for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or where mandatory consumer law says otherwise. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits or lost data; and our total liability for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We offer the service on these terms in reliance on this allocation of risk.
10. Your responsibility
You are responsible for what you do with the service and for what you submit through it. If a third party brings a claim against us because of content you submitted, or because you broke these terms or the law, you will compensate us for the resulting losses and reasonable legal costs, to the extent the law allows.
11. Ending
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or close an account at any time, in particular where these terms are broken. Sections that by their nature survive the end of this agreement (rights, liability, governing law) survive it.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time; a change takes effect when it is posted here. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you disagree, stop using the service.
13. Law, courts and general terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. If mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live give you additional rights, or the right to bring disputes before your home courts, those rules keep applying. If any clause of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest remains in force. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the service. You may not transfer your account or this agreement to anyone else; we may transfer this agreement to whoever takes over the service.
